Lead Client Egineer

Full-time Contract to Hire | Alameda, CA 


As a Lead Client Engineer, you will work on the most highly polished augmented reality platform ever created. You will help define the processes needed for ensuring an extraordinary product, and you will be empowered to research, innovate, and invent to get there. The team will rely on you to light the way as an example and a mentor for others. In working with emerging technology, you will shape the future.


This is a position at a rapidly expanding funded and revenue-backed start-up in the San Francisco bay area. We are looking for a candidate ready to learn and grow with the organization.


  • Implement systems, end-to-end features, and user interfaces for our mobile, web, and headset AR applications

  • Use Unity, React-Native, web, and native technologies to build robust and friendly applications

  • Iterate collaboratively with artists, designers, and engineers

  • Identify and resolve performance, usability, and scalability issues

  • Stay educated: study the future of technology and shape our direction

  • Improve the quality and velocity of your team's work

  • Define key technology metrics and out-perform them

  • Patiently learn other perspectives and share your own, building team consensus


  • 5+ years of development experience

  • Mastery of your toolset (Eg - Xcode, Visual Studio, gradle, webpack, profilers, etc)

  • Solid understanding of application design patterns, memory models, networking, security, and interop

  • Strong user-facing design sensibilities and a passion for great user experiences

  • Deep understanding of quality

  • Independently motivated and able to function effectively given little direction

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly through writing

  • Inspirational to others: show us what we're missing and make us excited to fill it in

Nice to have's 

  • Up to date portfolio of relevant work

  • C#, Java, Objective-C, and/or Swift experience

  • Experience with React, React-Native, and/or Redux

  • Experience with OpenFrameworks, Cinder, Processing or other creative frameworks

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in related field
